A former aspirant for the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Basheer Olayinka Amule, on Saturday received hundreds of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Amule welcomed the defectors during a visit to his ward, Magaji Aare Ward 1, where party members and supporters gathered to receive the new entrants.

Among the defectors were Mr. Kayode Lawal from the Idiape area and Nasrudeen Ajão Ahmed from the Akodudu zone, alongside several youths who serve as zonal youth leaders in their respective communities.

Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Amule described the defection as a clear sign of growing acceptance of the PDP at the grassroots level.

The former Kwara assembly aspirant attributed the development to what he called the party’s commitment to inclusive governance and people-oriented leadership.

He assured the defectors of equal treatment and full integration into the PDP family, urging them to remain united and work collectively towards strengthening the party ahead of future political engagements.

The defectors, in their separate remarks, said their decision to join the PDP was informed by their desire to be part of a platform that prioritises development, youth inclusion, and good governance in Kwara State.
