EPL: Haaland’s 300th Career Goal Gives Man City Win, Tottenham Still Winless

Erling Haaland scored the only goal as Manchester City secured a 1-0 victory over Coventry City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, maintaining their perfect start to the English Premier League season.

The Norwegian striker reached a major career milestone by scoring his 300th club goal, heading home Antoine Semenyo’s cross at the back post in the 26th minute.

The goal was also Haaland’s 20th headed goal in the Premier League, taking him past Sergio Agüero as Manchester City’s all-time leading scorer of headed goals.

Haaland came close to adding to his tally, but one effort was ruled out for offside, while Coventry goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made further attempts difficult for the striker.

Coventry had opportunities to level the match, with Taiwo Awoniyi wasting a clear chance after capitalising on a loose ball before firing wide.

Ryan Cherki also struck the post, but City held firm to claim all three points.

The victory means Manchester City have won all three of their league matches this season and sit top of the table with nine points. Coventry, meanwhile, remain bottom without a point.

Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur picked up their first point of the season after a goalless draw away to Nottingham Forest, who had a goal disallowed.

Newcastle United also fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Bournemouth at home.

Fulham suffered another defeat, losing 3-2 to Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage despite goals from the hosts. Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey were both involved as Fulham suffered their third consecutive league defeat.
