APC Appoints Uzodimma to Lead 276-Member Osun Governorship Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted a 276-member National Campaign Council and 12 specialised sub-committees ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, APC announced that Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, will chair the campaign council.

The council will have Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas as co-chairmen. Ibrahim Masari, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, was named deputy chairman, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin will serve as secretary.

According to the party, the campaign council comprises governors, ministers, principal officers of the National Assembly, members of the National Working Committee, former governors, lawmakers and other senior party stakeholders.

Notable members include Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and Niger State Governor Umaru Bago.

Other members are Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Atiku Bagudu, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Bosun Tijani, Minister of Finance Taiwo Oyedele, Nigeria Revenue Service Chairman Zacch Adedeji, Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications Sunday Dare, and Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga.

The APC also unveiled 12 sub-committees to coordinate various aspects of the campaign.

Uzodimma will head the Election Planning and Management Committee, with Monday Okpebholo as secretary, while Sanwo-Olu chairs the Finance and Resource Mobilisation Committee, with Zacch Adedeji serving as secretary.

The Contact, Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation Committee will be led by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, while Bassey Otu heads the Logistics and Campaign Management Committee. Uba Sani will chair the Monitoring and Compliance Committee, while Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori heads the Protocol Committee.

The Media and Publicity Committee will be chaired by Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, with Felix Morka serving as secretary. Members include Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Bosun Tijani, Taiwo Oyedele, Dele Alake, Sunday Dare and Bayo Onanuga.

Other committees include Security, chaired by Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya; Youth Mobilisation, chaired by Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo; Special Interest (Persons with Disabilities) Mobilisation, chaired by Umaru Bago; Women’s Mobilisation, chaired by Minister of Women Affairs Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; and the Secretariat Committee, chaired by Ayoola Olajolo.

The party said the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees will be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, in Abuja, ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
