The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recovered more components from its ATR 42-500 aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, as search and recovery operations continue at the accident site.

The recovery exercise involves several agencies, including the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), which are working alongside the Air Force team to retrieve materials that could help investigators determine the cause of the crash.

The Air Force announced the latest development in a statement shared on its official X account on Wednesday.

According to the NAF, specialist divers from the Nigerian Navy and the NSIB are carrying out underwater searches to locate and recover additional aircraft components and other relevant materials.

The operation also involves hydrographic surveys, the use of satellite-based search-and-rescue images, excavation of mud and the removal of excess water to gain access to areas where important evidence may be located.

The agencies are working together to search through different parts of the crash site, including underwater locations and areas that are difficult to reach.

The Air Force explained that recovery teams were continuing their work during the day and at night to ensure that relevant materials were located and retrieved for proper documentation and preservation.
