2027: Group Throws Weight Behind Moshood Bakare’s Reps Bid

A group of academics under the aegis of Academics in Politics has paid a courtesy visit to the PDP candidate for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, Hon. Moshood Bakare, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The visit, which underscored engagement, solidarity and support for Bakare’s candidacy, brought together members of the group drawn from higher institutions of learning across Kwara State. The University of Ilorin serves as the group’s secretariat.

The delegation was led by Dr. Bello Kabir, Ph.D.

During the meeting, the academics expressed their support for Bakare’s ambition to represent the people of Ifelodun, Offa and Oyun Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

The group emphasised the need for competent representation, quality legislation, educational advancement, human capital development, youth empowerment and inclusive governance as key drivers of sustainable development in the constituency and Kwara South.

According to the academics, effective representation goes beyond political commitment, requiring knowledge, vision, accessibility, capacity and a genuine understanding of the aspirations and challenges of the people.

The group further expressed confidence that Bakare’s candidacy could usher in purposeful, people-oriented and impactful representation for the constituency if elected in 2027.

As political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum, Academics in Politics pledged its solidarity with Bakare’s aspiration and called for support for what it described as a new chapter of purposeful representation.
