APC’s Oyebamiji Accepts Osun Election Result, Congratulates Adeleke

Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, has finally accepted the outcome of the poll and congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory.

Oyebamiji made his position known in a statement on Saturday, two weeks after the election, while urging APC members and supporters to close ranks and begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Adeleke, who contested under the Accord platform, was declared the winner of the election after defeating his closest rivals.

Oyebamiji thanked APC members and supporters for their commitment to his campaign, commending their sacrifices, resilience, prayers and confidence in his candidacy.

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Osun State governor Bisi Akande and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for their guidance and support throughout the campaign.

While accepting the election result, Oyebamiji said the violence recorded during the poll and the lives lost must not be ignored.

“While we accept the outcome of the election and congratulate the winner, we cannot forget the painful incidents of violence and the lives that were lost,” he said.

He commiserated with the families of victims of political violence and urged security agencies to investigate the incidents and ensure that those responsible face justice.

According to him, “No political contest should cost any Nigerian their life.”

Oyebamiji said his commitment to the development of Osun remained unwavering despite the conclusion of the election.

He added that where legitimate concerns arise, his camp would continue to pursue justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional channels.

Turning his attention to the 2027 elections, the APC candidate urged party members to strengthen the party’s structures and work together towards the next electoral contest.

“Our immediate responsibility is to mobilise for the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the success of all our candidates in Osun State,” he said.

Adeleke had earlier appealed to Oyebamiji and other contestants to accept the outcome of the election and support his administration.

The governor described the election as a contest with “no victor, no vanquished” and urged his opponents to join hands with him in moving Osun State forward.
