Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared that he is fully prepared for the August 15 governorship election and remains confident of victory.

Speaking with journalists after a meeting with members of the state workforce at the OHIS Hall in Osogbo on Monday, Adeleke urged residents to participate peacefully in the election and exercise their civic rights without fear.

The governor said he was not under pressure ahead of the poll, expressing confidence that he had the support of both God and the people of Osun State.

According to him, eligible voters should come out on election day, cast their votes and maintain peace throughout the electoral process.

Adeleke described voting as a civic responsibility and encouraged residents not to be intimidated, noting that Nigeria is a democratic country where citizens have the right to choose their leaders.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Osun State, Dr. Christopher Arapasopo, commended the Adeleke administration for what he described as its commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners.

He said organised labour appreciated the government’s engagement with workers and urged members to participate peacefully in the forthcoming election.

Arapasopo added that workers acknowledged the administration’s efforts in fulfilling promises made to them.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state, Adediran Olalekan, said workers were satisfied with the government’s welfare policies and pledged their continued support for the administration.
