Wizkid Sparks Excitement as He Hints at New Album

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has stirred anticipation among fans after teasing what appears to be a new music project.

The Grammy-winning singer took to his X account on Saturday, posting a brief but intriguing message: “Album 🦅”, suggesting that a new body of work may be on the horizon.

While the 35-year-old artiste did not reveal further details about the project, the post has generated excitement among his fanbase, who are eagerly awaiting an official announcement.

The teaser comes nearly two years after the release of his fifth studio album, Morayo, which debuted in November 2024. The album was dedicated to his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023.

Wizkid first rose to prominence with his debut album, Superstar, released in 2011. Since then, he has established himself as one of Africa’s most influential music stars, releasing several successful projects, including Ayo, Sounds from the Other Side, Made in Lagos, and More Love, Less Ego.

His 2020 album Made in Lagos featured collaborations with global stars such as Damian Marley, Skepta, H.E.R., Ella Mai, Burna Boy, Tems and Terri.

Over the years, Wizkid has earned numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award for his contribution to Brown Skin Girl alongside Beyoncé.

In October 2024, Made in Lagos was recognised as the most-streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music, further cementing Wizkid’s status as one of Africa’s biggest musical exports.
