Toyin Abraham Rejects Inclusion in Lagos APC Campaign Council

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council after her name appeared on its Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate list.

Abraham, in an Instagram Story on Thursday, September 17, said she was not a member of any campaign council and urged the public to disregard reports linking her to the political structure.

“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.

Her clarification followed the release of the Lagos APC campaign council structure ahead of its scheduled inauguration on Friday, September 18, at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja. (Vanguard News)

Abraham’s name appeared alongside several prominent figures in the entertainment industry, including veteran actor Jide Kosoko, actress Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola and Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.

According to the published structure, Toke Benson-Awoyinka was named Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, while Kosoko was listed as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.

Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, was named Secretary, with Dare Olateju listed as Assistant Secretary.

Other entertainers named in the directorate include Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi, Foluke Daramola and Abbey Lanre.

The list also includes musicians and entertainers such as Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, popularly known as Malaika; Akorede Babatunde Okunola, known as Osupa; Temitope Adekunle, popularly known as Small Doctor; Sule Adiro Ataweye; Yemisi Falaye; Leke Babatunde Akinrowo; Kayode Fahm and Aruna Ishola.

No public explanation had been given as of the time of reporting on why Abraham’s name appeared on the campaign council list despite her statement that she was not a member of the council.
