PDP wins Gwagwalada, APC takes AMAC in FCT Polls

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the Gwagwalada Area Council chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

In Gwagwalada, PDP candidate Mohammed Kasim polled 22,165 votes to defeat APC’s Yahaya Shehu, who scored 17,788 votes, while All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)’s Biko Umar came third with 1,687 votes. The result was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer, Philip Akpen.

Meanwhile, in AMAC, APC candidate and incumbent chairman Christopher Maikalangu won with 40,295 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) placed second with 12,109 votes, while the PDP secured 3,398 votes.

INEC officials said AMAC recorded 62,861 valid votes out of 65,197 total votes cast, with 65,676 accredited voters from 837,338 registered voters.
