JUST IN: Emir of Ilorin Announces Janazah for Late Chief Imam
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has expressed profound sadness over the passing of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shaykh (Dr.) Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih OON.
In a condolence message released by his Press Secretary, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir described the loss of the revered cleric as a colossal blow to the Ilorin Emirate, the Muslim Ummah, and humanity at large.
The statement reads in part, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. It is with complete submission to the will of Almighty Allah that we receive the news of the demise of the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih Onida OON. He was a man of intelligence, honesty, loyalty, dedication, and tolerance. His passing brings immeasurable sadness to the people of Ilorin Emirate. We remember him as a man of honour, piety, and wisdom.”
The Emir further praised the late Imam for his efforts in unifying Muslim clerics and promoting interfaith harmony across the state.
He announced that the Janazah prayer will take place today, Monday, 19th January 2026, at 4:00 pm at the Palace Square of the Emir of Ilorin.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari prayed that Almighty Allah grants Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih OON absolute forgiveness, accepts his good deeds, and admits him into Al-Jannatul Firdaus
