I Have Evidence Tinubu Is 90, I’ll Present It in Court – Atiku

Former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that he possesses evidence showing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is 90 years old.

Atiku made the claim in an interview with the BBC while defending his decision to contest the 2027 presidential election.

According to him, despite his age, he remains physically fit and capable of serving the country.

“I have a president who is 90 years old now, and who is sick. I am healthy; I am strong. So why would I not make my services available to my fellow countrymen?” Atiku said.

He added: “I have evidence that he is [90], and I will present it in court.”

Speaking about his political journey, Atiku said contesting for the presidency was within his constitutional rights. He recalled that he had previously contested for governor four times but was repeatedly disqualified by military authorities during Nigeria’s transition to democratic rule.

“I ran for governor four times because the people who were in charge of Nigeria’s transition to democracy were military, and I was so anti-military. Any time I won, they would disqualify me,” he said.

Atiku also recalled that he eventually went into exile following what he described as an attempt on his life.

He said his previous political setbacks had not discouraged him from seeking the presidency, stressing that he possesses the experience, competence and patriotism required to lead the country.

On insecurity, the ADC presidential candidate blamed the worsening situation on what he described as government irresponsibility and inadequate attention to defence and security.

Atiku recalled advising the government during his time in office that Nigeria’s police force was inadequate for the country’s population.

He compared Nigeria’s security personnel strength with that of Egypt, saying the North African country had a significantly larger police force despite having a smaller population.

Atiku expressed confidence that Nigeria could significantly reduce insurgency and insecurity within a year if adequate resources and attention were devoted to the security sector.
