The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced the arrest of six of its most-wanted fraud suspects across four continents, alongside the seizure of nearly $17bn in a global operation targeting scam networks.

FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed the developments in separate posts on his official X account on Sunday, outlining the results of the agency’s international efforts to track down fugitives and dismantle criminal networks involved in online fraud.

According to Patel, the six suspects had collectively spent more than 4,000 days evading arrest. The fraud cases associated with the FBI’s Most Wanted Fraudsters list are also linked to losses exceeding $2bn.

He explained that the suspects had fled the United States and sought refuge in other countries, believing they could escape prosecution by remaining outside American territory.

However, the FBI director said the agency had continued working with law enforcement partners across different countries to locate and arrest the suspects. He added that the authorities would continue pursuing individuals accused of defrauding Americans, regardless of where they attempted to hide.

In a separate update, Patel disclosed that the FBI’s Operation Blackout had led to the seizure of nearly $17bn, the arrest of hundreds of suspected scammers and the rescue of thousands of people allegedly trafficked into forced labour.

He further stated that the operation had helped protect more than 10,000 Americans from falling victim to fraud. The intervention reportedly prevented potential financial losses estimated at $670m.

Patel explained that the campaign was designed to go beyond investigating individual fraud cases by targeting the financial resources, communication systems and wider networks that enable criminal organisations to operate.

He said the FBI was working to dismantle these networks, disrupt their sources of funding, rescue victims and ensure that those responsible faced justice.

The FBI director also described international scam centres as criminal operations that exploit vulnerable people while targeting Americans through organised fraud schemes.

According to him, the agency would continue collaborating with foreign law enforcement authorities to identify the people behind the operations and bring them before the law.

The broader crackdown has included raids on suspected scam centres, the disruption of online infrastructure allegedly used to facilitate fraud and investigations aimed at identifying people trafficked into working for criminal organisations.

Patel maintained that the FBI would continue pursuing criminal groups targeting Americans, regardless of their location or the methods they used to evade law enforcement.

The six individuals named in the FBI’s most-wanted fraudster list, according to the report, are Manjit Singh Bedi, Elaine Agene Esco, Khalid Ahmed Satary, Herbert Leon Kimble, Sahid Abdullahi Ereg and Emylee Thai.

The arrests and seizures form part of the FBI’s broader efforts to combat international financial crimes, protect potential victims and disrupt organised fraud operations operating across national borders.
