Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed to deliver on its promise of good governance, insisting that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) now offers a credible path forward for Nigeria.

Atiku made the assertion on Tuesday in Abuja at the public presentation of The Loyalist, a book authored by Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the ADC.

According to him, the ADC represents a broad coalition of political actors united by a shared commitment to rescue Nigeria from years of poor leadership and restore the nation’s democratic values.

“We have a unique opportunity in the ADC. It is a convergence of diverse political tendencies across the country, coming together to reunite Nigeria and renew our democratic journey,” Atiku said.

He described the APC-led administration as the worst he has witnessed in nearly four decades of political involvement, arguing that its impact on national life is more damaging than that of past military regimes.

“If there is anything positive in our recent political development, it is this coming together to rescue the country from what I consider the worst administration in nearly forty years. Not even the military dictatorships before 1999 damaged our national life and consciousness the way this administration has,” he stated.

Atiku noted that many of those present at the event were founding members of the APC who had since become disappointed by the party’s performance in government.

He stressed that Nigerians must once again take responsibility by building a credible political alternative capable of delivering effective governance.

“Many of us here were part of the formation of the APC, believing it would rescue the country. Unfortunately, that has not happened. Just as we once came together to build a political alternative, we must do so again to ensure the emergence of a new organisation capable of salvaging Nigeria for the benefit of its people,” Atiku said.
