2027: No Governor Saved Money As I Did In Anambra — Peter Obi
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has claimed that no Nigerian governor saved as much money as he did during his tenure in Anambra State.
Obi made the claim during a town hall meeting with supporters in the United Kingdom, where he criticised the hardship facing Nigerians and called for a change in the country’s leadership.
He urged Nigerians living abroad to encourage their relatives at home to support leaders with proven records of productivity, accountability and prudent management of public funds.
Obi said Nigerians struggling financially should be encouraged to demand better leadership rather than continue supporting leaders who fail to deliver results.
He maintained that his record of saving public funds while serving as Anambra governor demonstrated his approach to managing government resources.
The former governor, however, said he was not claiming to be perfect, but argued that Nigeria needed leaders who could demonstrate responsible management of public finances.
Obi called for a collective effort to build a country that works for everyone, with particular attention to tackling corruption and electing leaders with competence, character, compassion and commitment.
He also advocated a shift from a consumption-driven economy towards one focused on production, saying Nigeria needed leaders capable of uniting the country, improving security and delivering tangible results.
