Again, Pantami wins PDP Guber ticket in Gombe

Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State for the 2027 election.

Pantami won the party’s repeat governorship primary conducted on Tuesday, September 29, across the 114 wards in the state’s 11 local government areas.

He polled 2,054 votes to defeat his two challengers, former House of Representatives member, Ahmed Khamisu Mailantarki, who scored 389 votes, and former Gombe State House of Assembly member, Usman Aliyu Garry, who secured 112 votes. (Channels TV)

The result was announced at the Gombe State PDP Secretariat by the Chairman of the PDP National Governorship Primary Rerun Committee, Johnbull Shekarau.

The fresh primary followed a Federal High Court judgment in Gombe that nullified the earlier exercise which produced Pantami as the party’s candidate and ordered the PDP to conduct another primary in compliance with its constitution, guidelines and relevant electoral laws. (Channels TV)

Pantami had initially emerged as the PDP’s candidate through a voice affirmation at the party’s May 2026 primary. His emergence was subsequently challenged in court by fellow PDP governorship aspirants, including Garry and Mailantarki.

Following the court order, the PDP cleared Pantami, Mailantarki and Garry to participate in the fresh primary held across the state.

With the latest result, Pantami will fly the PDP flag in the 2027 Gombe State governorship election, subject to the completion of relevant electoral and legal processes.
