2027: Bakare Advocates Sustainable Empowerment, Rural Development for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Bakare, has called for a shift from short-term relief distribution to sustainable empowerment programmes capable of creating lasting economic opportunities for constituents.

Bakare made the call while speaking on Kwara Dialogue on Emirate Radio, where he outlined his vision for effective representation and development across Ifelodun, Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas.

He argued that empowerment should go beyond the distribution of food items such as rice and semolina, stressing the need for programmes that equip people with relevant skills, support small businesses and create sustainable sources of income, particularly in rural communities.

According to him, rural development requires productive interventions that can strengthen household incomes and improve the economic well-being of families across the constituency.

The former member of the Kwara State House of Assembly also identified education as a key component of his development agenda. He cited his support for prospective students through Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration, noting that investment in education could create opportunities with long-term benefits for individuals and their communities.

Bakare said his regular interaction with residents across the constituency had enabled him to gain a deeper understanding of their concerns, needs and aspirations.

He described himself as a candidate with experience in public service and a strong grassroots connection, adding that his approach to leadership is guided by a commitment to touching lives and creating a chain of positive impact.

He explained that beneficiaries of empowerment initiatives should not only improve their own circumstances but also be positioned to contribute positively to the lives of others within their communities.

Bakare, who is seeking election to the House of Representatives in the 2027 elections, expressed confidence in his ability to provide effective and responsive representation for the people of Ifelodun, Offa and Oyun.

He appealed to voters across the three local government areas to support his candidacy and other PDP candidates in the 2027 elections, promising to pursue his development agenda if given the mandate.

Bakare previously served in the Kwara State House of Assembly, representing Omupo Constituency, where he held committee leadership positions, including Chairman of the Committees on Finance and Appropriation and Public Accounts.

His campaign has identified youth empowerment, infrastructure development, economic renewal and community security as key areas of focus ahead of the 2027 contest.
