NPFL : Kwara United Fight Back to Hold Kano Pillars to 2-2 Draw

Kwara United staged a dramatic comeback to secure a 2-2 draw against Kano Pillars in their opening fixture of the 2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on Sunday.

The encounter, played at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of the George Innih Stadium in Ilorin, saw the visitors take a commanding two-goal lead before Kwara United fought back to earn a point.

Kano Pillars opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Shola Abdulraheem, a former Kwara United midfielder, who put the visitors ahead.

The Sai Masu Gida doubled their advantage in the 31st minute when experienced midfielder Rabiu Ali found the back of the net to make it 2-0.

Kwara United responded immediately after the restart, with Alex Jerry reducing the deficit in the 46th minute to give the hosts renewed hope.

The Harmony Boys continued to push for an equaliser and were eventually rewarded deep into stoppage time, as Alex Jerry scored his second goal of the game in the 95th minute to level the scores at 2-2.
