IEYDA Celebrates Sheikh Onikijipa’s International Recognition in Canada

The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA), under the auspices of the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has congratulated the Grand Mufty of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh (Dr.) Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa (OON), on his recognition by the Corporation of the City of Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

In a statement jointly signed by the National President, Alhaji Mohammed Uthman Jagunmo, and the National Director of Publicity, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulfatahi Oloyin, the association described the honour as a well-deserved international recognition of Sheikh Onikijipa’s lifelong commitment to Islamic scholarship, moral leadership, community service, and the promotion of peace and unity.

The Certificate of Recognition was presented by the Mayor of Brampton, His Worship Patrick Brown, during Sheikh Onikijipa’s visit to the city. The award also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Nigerian community to Brampton’s cultural diversity, community development, faith, and shared prosperity. The presentation took place on July 31, 2026.

IEYDA noted that the recognition goes beyond a personal achievement for the Grand Mufty, describing it as a moment of pride for the entire Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and Nigeria. The association said the honour further shows that excellence, integrity, and selfless service continue to earn global appreciation.

The association also commended the City of Brampton for recognising the positive impact of Nigerians in Canada and for honouring one of Ilorin Emirate’s most distinguished Islamic scholars.

IEYDA prayed that Almighty Allah grants Sheikh (Dr.) Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa continued good health, wisdom, strength, and many more opportunities to serve Islam and humanity while bringing greater honour to Ilorin Emirate and Nigeria.
