Mbappe Wins 2026 World Cup Golden Boot, Becomes Tournament’s All-Time Top Scorer

France captain Kylian Mbappe has won the Golden Boot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after finishing as the tournament’s highest goalscorer with 10 goals.

Mbappe secured the award ahead of Argentina captain Lionel Messi, who ended the competition with eight goals after failing to score in Sunday’s World Cup final.

England midfielder Jude Bellingham and Norway striker Erling Haaland finished joint-third on the scoring chart with seven goals each.

The 27-year-old Real Madrid forward retained the Golden Boot he first won at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where France finished as runners-up.

Mbappe boosted his tally by scoring twice in France’s 6-4 victory over England in Saturday’s third-place play-off.

His latest goals also saw him become the highest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history with 22 goals across three editions, surpassing Messi’s previous record of 21.

Despite the individual achievement, Mbappe admitted he would have preferred to feature in the World Cup final.

“I would have preferred not to be the all-time top scorer and to be playing tomorrow’s match,” the France captain said after the third-place play-off.
