Chelsea Complete Signing of Italy Defender Marco Palestra From Atalanta

Premier League side Chelsea have completed the signing of Italian defender Marco Palestra from Atalanta on a seven-year contract, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

Palestra enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 season while on loan at Cagliari, where he impressed in both full-back and wing-back roles. His performances earned him the Serie A Defender of the Year award.

He also made his senior debut for Italy during the country’s unsuccessful FIFA World Cup qualifying play-off campaign.

Chelsea are expected to continue strengthening their defence this summer following last season’s struggles. Marc Cucurella has already completed a move to Real Madrid, while the Blues are reportedly monitoring Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix as another potential defensive addition.
