10 Things You Need to Know About the New Chief Imam of Ilorin

  1. He is Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani, recently appointed as the new Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate by the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
  2. He emerged successful after a rigorous selection process, defeating other qualified scholars who contested for the revered position.
  3. He is 42 years old, making him one of the younger spiritual leaders to occupy the prestigious office.
  4. He comes from a respected lineage of Islamic scholars, being a grandson of the 8th Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Ibrahim Dasuki Imam Fulani Agaka.
  5. He is also closely related to the 10th Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Maliki bn Dasuki Agaka.
  6. Before his appointment, he founded Darul Bisharah Arabic and Islamic Studies in Airport, Egbejila, Ilorin.
  7. He served as the Imam of Afsat Oloriegbe Memorial Mosque, Oko Olowo, where he led daily prayers and Jumu’ah services.
  8. He is a familiar voice on Radio Kwara, presenting the Al-Bisharah Islamic Foundation programme during Ramadan.
  9. He is an educator and Islamic scholar, teaching at Darul Kitab College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin.
  10. He holds academic qualifications from renowned institutions, including Al-Azhar University, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Shari’ah, and Al-Hikmah University, where he is pursuing a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies.
