Ex-Kano Gov Shekarau Dumps PDP, Returns to APC
Former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shekarau announced his defection on Sunday at his residence in Kano.
The former governor, who led Kano State from 2003 to 2011 under the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), has had a long history of political realignments.
He initially joined the PDP in 2014 following the merger of the ANPP with other parties to form the APC. However, in 2018, he returned to the APC before leaving again in May 2022 for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), citing internal disagreements, particularly with former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Just months later, in August 2022, Shekarau moved back to the PDP.
His latest defection marks another shift in his political journey, as he realigns with the APC ahead of future political engagements.
