El-Rufai Denies Rift with Tinubu, Vows to Oppose APC Government
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has denied having any personal rift with President Bola Tinubu, saying his disagreement with the current administration is based on differing political objectives.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, El-Rufai declared that the struggle to remove the ruling APC government has “just begun,” alleging that those in power are uneasy about his return to Nigeria.
His comments come after a reported incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where security operatives allegedly attempted to detain him upon his arrival from Cairo. El-Rufai reportedly refused to go with them without a formal invitation or warrant.
He also dismissed allegations of wrongdoing against him, insisting that no credible case exists, and said he is ready to honour any lawful invitation.
El-Rufai said he is aligning with an emerging political coalition to “rescue Nigerians” from hardship, while ruling out any immediate plan to contest for office.
