Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.
The aircraft, identified with registration number NGR 931, was travelling from Benin to Lagos when contact with it was lost at about 9:13 a.m.

Keyamo said rescue teams had been deployed and search and rescue efforts were ongoing as authorities worked to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
Initial information showed that the aircraft was carrying 25 passengers and seven crew members, bringing the total number of people on board to 32.
The minister also explained that military aircraft do not fall under the control and regulation of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development or the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.
He said he had contacted the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, over the incident and assured the military of the ministry’s cooperation in the ongoing rescue operation.
Further details about the condition of those on board and the circumstances that led to the crash are expected as the search and rescue operation continues.
