President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).

The appointment was announced on Thursday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga in a statement.

Aliyu replaces Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who stepped down from the position to pursue the 2027 governorship race in Adamawa State.

In a related development, the President also approved the renewal of the appointment of Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for a second and final term.

Both appointments take immediate effect.

Before his new role, Professor Aliyu served as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. He is described as an experienced academic and administrator with a strong background in research, education, and institutional leadership.

According to the presidency, his appointment reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening the petroleum sector and boosting human capital development in Nigeria’s energy industry.

Meanwhile, the renewal of Abdulaziz’s tenure follows a review of his performance, with the government noting improvements in grid stability, transmission capacity, and system modernisation under his leadership at TCN.

President Tinubu urged both appointees to carry out their duties with diligence, integrity, and dedication to national service, in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda.
