Zimbabwe Holds Super Eagles to 1-1 Draw in World Cup Qualifier
The pressure mounted on the Super Eagles following a lackluster draw with Lesotho, and Zimbabwe’s Musona capitalized with a remarkable 30-meter free kick in the 26th minute, eluding Nigeria’s goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.

In their second World Cup qualifier at Rwanda’s Huye Stadium, Nigeria’s Super Eagles faced a challenging 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe.
The pressure mounted on the Super Eagles following a lackluster draw with Lesotho, and Zimbabwe’s Musona capitalized with a remarkable 30-meter free kick in the 26th minute, eluding Nigeria’s goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.
Despite the initial setback, the 2013 AFCON champions, led by Victor Osimhen and Taiwo Awoniyi, struggled to assert dominance, with Zimbabwe holding the upper hand at halftime. Manager Jose Peseiro responded with halftime changes, introducing Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Osayi-Samuel.
Peseiro’s strategic adjustments paid off as Iheanacho found the net in the 67th minute, slotting a shot just inside the left post to level the score for the Super Eagles. Despite Nigeria’s continued pursuit of a winning goal, the Warriors maintained a solid defensive stance, securing the 1-1 draw.
