Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has imposed a ban on unlawful mining operations and instructed law enforcement authorities to take rigorous measures against those who violate this prohibition.

Governor Lawal, as conveyed by his Spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, has emphasized the need to put an end to this harmful practice and to implement safeguards for the safety and welfare of the populace.
He has made it clear that security forces have been given strict orders to respond decisively, including using lethal force if necessary, against individuals involved in illegal mining.
Governor Lawal explained: “This directive is essential to ensure the safety and security of Zamfara’s residents and to deter potential wrongdoers from engaging in such activities.”
He also stated that this swift action aims to enable the state government to have full control over its resources and to prevent activities that endanger people’s lives and property.
The Governor highlighted that illegal mining is a major factor contributing to the ongoing banditry issues in Zamfara State, and he stressed the need for rapid and resolute action to combat this problem and restore peace and security to the communities.
