You’re a failed politician – PDP replies Kwankwaso

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, labeling him as a failed and insignificant figure in politics.
Kwankwaso, who ran as the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, had recently claimed that the PDP no longer holds relevance in Nigeria.
Speaking at the inauguration of a newly renovated party office in Katsina State on Saturday, Kwankwaso asserted that he and his supporters left the PDP because “it is dead.”
“I want to remind you that the PDP is dead because we left the party. Since they veered off course, we chose to move on,” he stated.
In response, the PDP, through a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, condemned Kwankwaso for his perceived selfishness and lack of leadership qualities.
The statement read, “Our reaction to the remarks attributed to Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso is that he is largely inconsequential in Nigerian national politics today, as evidenced by his struggle to lead a party like the NNPP, which itself is struggling to control just one state.
“It is unimaginable that a failed and insignificant politician with influence in only one state would claim that a party with 13 governors, numerous Senators, House of Representatives members, several States Assembly seats, and a strong presence in all local government areas and wards across the country is ‘dead.’
“More concerning is that Sen. Kwankwaso has displayed extreme selfishness and self-centeredness, revealing that he is not a true leader.”
The PDP further described Kwankwaso as an insensitive politician, pointing out that all of his political achievements were made possible through the PDP’s platform.
The statement continued, “It is unfortunate that at a time when the PDP and patriotic Nigerians are voicing concerns about the severe hardships caused by the anti-people policies of the APC administration, when Nigerians, including those in Sen. Kwankwaso’s home state of Kano, are suffering from hunger and starvation, Kwankwaso is preoccupied with his self-centered ambition of becoming President. This is deeply regrettable.
“So the PDP has no intention of engaging in a debate with him over such displays of self-centeredness and insensitivity. In any case, whatever political relevance Sen. Kwankwaso believes he has achieved, it was only while he was with the PDP.”
