Nigerian Superstars, Burna Boy, wizkid have bagged nominations for the 2023 edition of the BET Awards.

The award organizers released the full nomination list on Thursday.

The ‘Last Last’ crooner was nominated in the ‘Best Male R&B/Pop Artist’, ‘Video Director of the Year’, ‘Viewer’s Choice’, and ‘Best International Act’ categories.

Tems was also nominated in the ‘Best Female R&B/Pop Artiste’, ‘Best Collaboration’, and ‘Viewers Choice’ categories.

Wizkid, Asake, and Ayra Starr also earned one nomination each.

Drake, the Canadian singer, bagged the most nominations with seven categories to his credit.

The 2023 BET Awards will hold on Sunday, June 25.

I might win Grammy next year – Asake

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ahmed Ololade, also known as Asake, has expressed his perspective on his Grammy nomination loss to South Africa’s Tyla.

Despite Tyla’s song ‘Water’ winning over Asake’s ‘Amapiano’ and other Nigerian tracks in the Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys, Asake told GQ magazine in a recent interview that he doesn’t view it as a defeat.

He remains optimistic about potential future Grammy nominations and the possibility of winning next year.

Asake emphasized that he wasn’t overly focused on the loss, stating, “It’s not a loss for me. I might just receive more nominations next year.

In my mind, I wasn’t even taking it too seriously.” Regarding his upcoming sophomore album, ‘Work Of Art,’ Asake explained, “People don’t really know me because I’m reserved.

‘Work of Art’ aims to unveil who I am. You have to acknowledge my humanity, but you can’t deny my passion.”

‘Tested, Approved and Trusted’ is the fifth song from ‘I Told Them’, Burna’s seventh studio album.

In these remixes, Burna blends various sounds to give them a unique flavor compared to the original track.

Major League infuses their remix with the Amapiano vibe, while Prince Swanny adds a captivating verse with his signature dancehall rhythm.

In addition to the remixes, Burna Boy has also dropped the music video for the original song.

The video, under four minutes long, shows Burna Boy enjoying himself and partying while performing the song.

Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy rose to prominence with his hit single ‘Like to Party’ from his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’ (2013).

With numerous awards and accolades, Burna Boy has established himself as one of Africa’s top artists.

In 2021, Burna Boy made history in Nigeria when his fifth album ‘Twice As Tall’ (2020) won the Grammy Award for ‘Best World Music Album’.

Although he received four nominations at the latest Grammy Awards, Burna Boy did not win in any category.
