It was gathered that Kuti surrender himself to a police in company of his family and a lawyer representing Femi Falana before he was handcuffed and paraded.
The Nigeria Police Force has revealed why Lagos State Police Command handcuffed Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti.
It was gathered that Kuti surrender himself to a police in company of his family and a lawyer representing Femi Falana before he was handcuffed and paraded.
Kuti is currently in police custody, was handcuffed and taken to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, in Panti for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba had ordered his arrest after after he was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform on 3rd Mainland Bridge.
Some Nigerians had berated the police for putting him in handcuffs despite that he voluntarily surrendered himself.
A concerned Nigerian on Twitter asked the Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, if the handcuff was necessary.
But the Police said it was standard procedure.
