Why i didn’t attend LP convention – Peter Obi reveals
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has disclosed the reasons for his absence from the party’s national convention.
The convention, held on March 27 in Anambra state, saw the re-election of Julius Abure as the national chairman amidst controversy.
Obi clarified his non-attendance at the convention during a Spaces session on X (formerly Twitter) hosted by Parallel Facts.
He mentioned advising the party leadership to consult key stakeholders before proceeding with the event, emphasizing the importance of consensus-building.
Regarding allegations of financial mismanagement against the national chair, Obi explained that he refrained from commenting because an auditor had been tasked with auditing both the Labour Party’s and their campaign’s accounts.
Furthermore, Obi affirmed his continued membership in the LP and reiterated his commitment to avoiding any actions detrimental to the party’s interests.
