General Abdourahmane Tchiani, the leader of the Niger junta, has expressed readiness for dialogue.
Despite previously rejecting peaceful overtures, Tchiani now acknowledges the importance of diplomacy and peace in resolving the situation.
During a meeting with Nigerian Islamic scholars, Tchiani stated that the doors are open for dialogue.
The scholars, led by Sheik Bala Lau, discussed various issues, including ECOWAS’ demand for the reinstatement of President Bazoum.
The Prime Minister of Niger confirmed that the country’s leader is indeed open to dialogue.
Talks with ECOWAS are expected to take place in the coming days to discuss lifting the imposed sanctions.
