We’re investigating actresses in rumoured affairs with Akpabio – AGN

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced an investigation into claims that some actresses had romantic relationships with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In July, a blog alleged that Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Nancy Isime, and Ini Edo were involved with Akpabio, though the Senate President denied the accusations, affirming that his wife was sufficient for him. Egbuson-Akande also threatened legal action against the blog for defamation.
On Friday, the AGN released a memo confirming that the actresses are on its “watchlist” and under investigation by a secret panel. “We commend the professional and thorough work of our secret investigative panel,” the statement noted. It added that some female members are being investigated in connection with the recent allegations involving the Senate President.
The guild also announced the suspension of actress Halima Abubakar for “spreading false information” about fellow members, associates, and patrons, including accusations of extramarital affairs with prominent individuals.
According to the AGN, a two-year investigation revealed Abubakar’s involvement in actions that defamed the film industry. She is now set to appear before the national disciplinary committee to face further sanctions.
