We’ll not condone any form of illegal mining in Kwara – Commissioner, Olododo

The Honorable commissioner for Solid Minerals development & Steel Development and Supervising Commissioner for works and transport, Hon. Abdulquawiy Olododo has said the government will not condone any form of illegal mining in the state. 

Olododo stated this while speaking with Journalists at the 5th National Council on Mining and Mineral resources development (NCMMRD) Meeting, held in ilorin on Monday. 

According to him, illegal mining has reduce drastically in the state, underscoring the government’s collaboration with security agencies to combat these activities effectively.

He revealed that the government is actively working to revalidate all expired licenses in the state as part of its initiatives to attract investors.

He also disclosed that the government is planning to organize zonal miners into cooperatives as a measure to curb illegal mining activities.

Conclusively, Olododo emphasized the need for enhanced synergy between the Kwara State government and the Federal Government, underscoring the importance of involving the state government in policy execution due to their proximity to grassroots communities.
