We’ll hold talks with labour over new minimum wage in March – Federal Govt
Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, revealed this during a dialogue event in Abuja, emphasizing the need for patience in allowing President Bola Tinubu to address the welfare concerns of Nigerians.
The federal government has announced plans to engage in discussions with labor unions regarding a new minimum wage in March.
Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, revealed this during a dialogue event in Abuja, emphasizing the need for patience in allowing President Bola Tinubu to address the welfare concerns of Nigerians.
Idris mentioned that after the initial proposal of a N25,000 wage award, negotiations with labor resulted in an agreement for a higher amount of N35,000, to be paid over six months from September 2023 to February 2024 to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
He urged Nigerians to trust in Tinubu’s intentions and give him the necessary time to implement positive changes for the country.
