WAEC Releases 2024 WASSCE Results
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, though 215,267 results have been withheld.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 12, 2024, WAEC confirmed that the results for candidates who sat for the 2024 WASSCE for School Candidates have been officially released.
The statement also directed candidates to access their results by visiting https://waecdirect.org.
During a press conference in Lagos, Amos Dangut, Head of the Nigeria National Office of WAEC, reported that 1,685,889 candidates, representing 93.39% of those who took the exam in Nigeria, have had their results fully processed and released.
However, 119,327 candidates, representing 6.61%, are still awaiting the processing of one or more subjects due to ongoing issues.
Dangut also provided an analysis of the performance statistics, revealing that out of 1,805,216 candidates who sat for the exam, 1,332,089, or 73.79%, obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, whether or not English Language and/or Mathematics were included.
However, the results of 215,267 candidates, representing 11.92% of the total candidates, have been withheld due to various reported cases of examination malpractice. This figure is 4.37% lower than the 16.29% recorded in the previous year’s WASSCE for school candidates in 2023.
To check their results, candidates can use the “Result Checker PIN and Serial Number,” which can be found on the Smart Identity Card issued and used during the examination. Additionally, hard copies of certificates for candidates whose results have been fully processed and released will be available within 90 days from the release date.
