WAEC: Over 1.8 Million Candidates Registered for 2024 WASSCE
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced that 1,814,344 candidates from 22,239 schools have registered for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
This exam will run from April 30 to June 24 in four countries: Nigeria, Gambia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. The candidates will be examined in 76 subjects with 197 papers, and around 30,000 experienced Senior Secondary school teachers will supervise the examination.
To ensure security, WAEC is working with police and state governments. The council is also tackling examination malpractice through penalties and awareness campaigns.
They require candidates to register with a National Identification Number (NIN) and have developed e-learning resources to help students prepare. Results are expected to be released 45 days after the last paper, and certificates will be issued within 90 days after that.
