Vinicius Junior Named 2023/24 UCL Player of the Season

Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior has been honored as the standout player of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League season.

The 23-year-old’s achievement was announced on Monday in an official statement.

Vinicius delivered exceptional performances for Real Madrid, leading them to their 15th UCL title by defeating several top-tier teams. He netted six goals during the tournament, including the decisive second goal in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the final on June 1.

“UEFA’s Technical Observer panel has named Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior as the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League Player of the Season,” the statement said.

“Vinícius Júnior showcased a series of outstanding displays throughout Madrid’s triumphant campaign, contributing six goals, including the crucial goal in the final against Dortmund.”

English midfielder Jude Bellingham was also recognized as the best young player of the season, thanks to his significant role in Madrid’s success.

The 20-year-old had an impressive debut season with Madrid, forming a formidable trio with Vinicius and Rodrygo that troubled defenses across Europe.

In addition to Vinicius and Bellingham, Real Madrid players Dani Carvajal and Antonio Rudiger were also included in the team of the season.

Other notable players in the best eleven included Borussia Dortmund’s Matts Hummels, Marcel Sabitzer, Iaan Matseen, and Gregor Kobel, Manchester City’s Phil Foden, PSG’s Vitinha, and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.
