UCL: Arsenal Cruise to Victory Against Sporting, Man City Squander Three-Goal Lead in Draw with Feyenoord

Manchester City let slip a commanding three-goal lead, drawing 3-3 with Feyenoord in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) group-stage clash at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

After a series of disappointing results, including five straight losses, Pep Guardiola’s side was hoping to turn their fortunes around. Erling Haaland’s brace gave them a promising advantage, but a dramatic late collapse spoiled their chances of victory.

Haaland opened the scoring from the penalty spot just before halftime, and Man City appeared more settled in the second half. Ilkay Gundogan extended their lead with a deflected shot in the 50th minute, and Haaland completed his double three minutes later with a close-range finish.

However, poor concentration and defensive errors allowed Feyenoord to fight back. A sloppy back pass from Josko Gvardiol gifted Anis Hadj Moussa the ball, who rounded goalkeeper Ederson Moraes and tapped it into an empty net on 75 minutes. Santiago Gimenez pulled one back in the 82nd minute, heading in a cross, before David Hancko scored the equalizer in the 89th minute, converting into an open net after Ederson’s rushed clearance.

This result marked the first time since 2006 that Man City has gone six matches without a win. They also became the first team in UCL history to lose a three-goal lead with just 15 minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, Arsenal had an easier night, securing a 5-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon with three goals in the first half. Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Magalhaes, Bukayo Saka, and Leandro Trossard all found the back of the net, ensuring a dominant win for the Gunners.

In other matches, Atletico Madrid thrashed Victor Olatunji’s Sparta Prague 6-0, with the Nigerian forward coming on in the 60th minute but unable to change the outcome. Atalanta, resting Ademola Lookman, comfortably beat Young Boys 5-1, while Bayern Munich edged Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in a tough encounter. Robert Lewandowski marked a milestone with his 100th and 101st UCL goals as Barcelona triumphed 3-0 over Brest.
