Tribunal Orders Eti-Osa, Lagos Rerun Over ‘Inconclusive’ Federal Constituency Election
In its recent judgment delivered late Monday night, the tribunal ruled that the election was inconclusive and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hold a supplementary election within 90 days in 33 polling units where voting didn’t take place.

The National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, has invalidated the election victory of Mr. Thaddeus Atta from the Labour Party as the elected representative for Eti Osa Federal Constituency in Lagos.
In its recent judgment delivered late Monday night, the tribunal ruled that the election was inconclusive and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hold a supplementary election within 90 days in 33 polling units where voting didn’t take place.
In response to the ruling on Tuesday, Atta clarified that he wasn’t “sacked” by the court but that a re-run (supplementary election) was ordered in the 32 polling units where elections didn’t occur.
He expressed confidence in continuing to serve Eti Osa constituents.
Bankole Wellington (Banky W) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who came second in the initial polls, and the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro (IBO) had both filed petitions contesting the results of the February 25 election.
INEC initially declared Atta the winner with 24,075 votes, while Banky W and IBO were reported to have received 18,668 and 16,901 votes, respectively.
