Tinubu’s media aide, Ajuri Ngelale embarks on indefinite leave

Ajuri Ngelale, the special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on media and publicity, has announced that he will be taking an “indefinite leave of absence” to address pressing medical issues affecting his immediate family.
In a statement released on September 7, Ngelale explained that the decision was made following extensive consultations with his family over the past few days, as a challenging medical situation at home has worsened.
“While I fully recognize that the state’s responsibilities are unceasing, this difficult decision—to temporarily step back from my roles as Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Official Presidential Spokesperson, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen—was reached after significant discussions with my family,” Ngelale stated.
He added that he looks forward to resuming his duties in full when time, recovery, and fate allow.
“I kindly request privacy for my family and me during this period,” he concluded.
Ngelale was appointed as Tinubu’s special adviser on media and publicity on July 31, 2023. On May 19, 2024, he was also appointed as the special presidential envoy on climate action.
