The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, remarked that under the administration of Bola Tinubu, Abuja has been transformed into a bustling construction hub.

Wike made this observation during a visit from the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Rochard Montgomery, in Abuja on Tuesday.

He noted that before Tinubu’s leadership, construction and development activities in Abuja were stagnant, with many residents lamenting the lack of progress.

However, since assuming office, significant infrastructure projects, especially in road construction, have revitalized the city.

Wike emphasized that the FCT administration’s focus aligns with the president’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, with notable progress in enhancing security.

He credited the security agencies, particularly the police, for their efforts in reducing criminal activities, including kidnappings.

Identifying job creation, tourism, and agriculture as key priorities, Wike expressed readiness to collaborate with investors to stimulate growth in these sectors and address youth unemployment.

In response, Montgomery expressed the UK’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s development agenda, highlighting recent partnerships in defense, security, trade, and investment.

He affirmed the importance of agriculture and job creation, underscoring their interdependence with long-term security and prosperity.

Montgomery also acknowledged Nigeria’s efforts in implementing economic reforms, emphasizing their potential to foster growth and improve livelihoods.
