Tinubu too wealthy, can’t loot Nigeria’s treasury – Minister

Ayodele Olawande, the Minister of State for Youth Development, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “symbol of wealth” who has no interest in misappropriating the nation’s resources.
As reported by Voice of Nigeria (VON), Olawande made this statement during the Joint Union Negotiating Council (JUNC) Week at the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in Abuja. The event, themed “The working people in a volatile, uncertain and complex economy,” saw the minister urging Nigerians to remain patient with the current administration, assuring them that positive changes are on the horizon.
“I encourage Nigerians to be patient with this administration. Soon, the nation will experience positive transformation, and the lives of its citizens will improve,” he stated.
He added that President Tinubu, being an established figure of wealth, is beyond any desire to exploit Nigeria’s treasury. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not in need. He is a well-known embodiment of wealth and is not interested in looting the nation’s resources. He has long been successful, so enriching himself at the expense of the nation is not his aim.”
The minister also emphasized that public service is about making lasting contributions, saying, “Leadership is about a commitment to serve. Titles are temporary, but the impact made in office endures beyond one’s term.”
Tinubu, who previously served as a two-term governor and a senator during the third Republic, has business interests in areas such as tourism, real estate, and media.
In an earlier statement, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu also reinforced this sentiment, stating that her family has no need for Nigeria’s wealth. Speaking at an inter-denominational service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja, she remarked, “Nigeria’s wealth belongs to everyone. God has blessed my family, and we don’t need Nigeria’s wealth to survive. With God’s help, we are committed to putting the nation on the right path.”
