Tinubu suspends N-power, Other national social investment programmes
The suspension follows Tinubu’s decision to suspend Halima Shehu as NSIPA’s CEO on January 2, citing alleged financial misconduct

President Bola Tinubu has halted the implementation of all programs by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).
The suspension follows Tinubu’s decision to suspend Halima Shehu as NSIPA’s CEO on January 2, citing alleged financial misconduct.
Additionally, on January 8, Tinubu suspended Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, whose ministry oversees NSIPA.
The suspension is linked to an ongoing investigation into financial irregularities, including a memo where Edu requested the transfer of N585 million to a private account.
Tinubu has raised concerns about operational lapses and improprieties in payments to program beneficiaries, leading to the formation of a ministerial panel for a comprehensive review and recommended reforms.
During the six-week suspension, all NSIPA-related activities are frozen, with a commitment to ensuring effective social intervention programs for vulnerable Nigerians in the future.
