Tinubu Signs Bills Establishing New Federal Universities in Osun, Ekiti

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed two bills into law, establishing the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies in Iragbiji, Osun State, and the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Announced by Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu stated that these institutions would drive research, innovation, and economic growth while training professionals in agriculture, science, and technology.
Nigeria now has 63 federal universities, alongside 63 state and 149 private universities. Earlier, on February 3, Tinubu also approved a Federal University of Environment and Technology in Ogoni, Rivers State, and the takeover of a forfeited private university in Southern Kaduna.
