Tinubu seeks Collaboration with South Africa’s President to Harness Nigeria’s Mineral Wealth

President Bola Tinubu met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in New York ahead of the 78th United Nations General Assembly, where he emphasized the need to enhance economic ties between both nations.
Tinubu highlighted the potential for Nigeria and South Africa to positively impact Africa’s economic landscape through effective partnership, citing the abundant human and natural resources in both countries.
He also suggested that South African mining industries could contribute to Nigeria’s solid minerals sector, drawing from their expertise.
Ramaphosa praised Tinubu’s economic reforms and expressed agreement on the importance of intentional collaboration between their countries, particularly in light of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
He emphasized the potential for Nigeria and South Africa to influence global affairs when they work together.
Ramaphosa also commended Tinubu’s leadership of ECOWAS and expressed a desire for Southern Africa to emulate the solidarity seen in West Africa.
Ramaphosa extended an invitation to Tinubu to visit South Africa, mirroring his recent visit to Nigeria, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen economic ties.
Tinubu emphasized the need for African nations to manage their resources effectively for maximum economic benefit, envisioning a future of mutually productive economic relations.
