Tinubu Promises Economic Recovery, Urges Nigerians to Stay Hopeful

President Bola Tinubu has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic recovery, urging citizens to remain patient and supportive of his administration’s reforms.
Despite record-high inflation driving up the cost of basic goods, President Tinubu assured Nigerians of a brighter future during the graduation ceremony of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 17 at the National Institute for Security Studies in Abuja.
Represented by National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, the president acknowledged the economic hardships but emphasized that the government is making significant efforts to transform the situation.
“Things are happening in our country today. People may not like us or agree with some decisions, but fundamentally, things are changing, and Nigeria will change,” Tinubu said, referencing the government’s recent removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira—policies experts say have significantly impacted the economy.
He added, “The economy is tough, and the challenges are huge, but I assure you, better days are ahead.”
Beyond the economy, Tinubu reiterated his government’s commitment to tackling Nigeria’s security challenges, vowing to hold criminals accountable.
“If you are a bad person, whether inside or outside Nigeria, you are in trouble. We will pursue you and bring you to justice,” he declared.
At the event, former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu addressed criticism of the government’s Tax Reform Bills, particularly from northern regions. Aliyu argued that many critics had not studied the bills in detail and stressed the importance of better communication from the government.
“I told the NSA that many of those opposing the tax bills have not read them. The government needs to do more to educate the public,” he said, emphasizing the critical role of effective communication.
