Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu’s special advisor on media and publicity, has stated that Tinubu is willing to remove any cabinet member who displays incompetence.

Upon inaugurating his 45-member cabinet on August 21, the president urged them to fulfill his “renewed hope” agenda.

During a recent interview on the Channels Television program “Sunrise Daily,” Ngelale explained that the president has established benchmarks and deadlines for the ministers.

Ngelale emphasized that failure to meet these objectives could result in dismissal.

“President Bola Tinubu is results-oriented. He provides benchmarks and timeframes for achieving his objectives. He doesn’t expect ministers to formulate plans after taking office. Instead, he specifies the timeframe within which he anticipates results,” Ngelale revealed.

“And if these goals aren’t met, there are consequences. He’s fully prepared to remove a minister if their performance falls short. Absolutely.”

Ngelale defended the number of ministers appointed, asserting that the president values specialization for enhanced efficiency.

“He believes there’s an urgent requirement for hands-on specialization in the federal government,” Ngelale explained.

“Given the extent of the challenges, if we can improve specialization and streamline responsibilities, we can assign housing-related matters to Musa Dangiwa, whose experience in overhauling the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria suits the housing sector reform. That’s his sole focus.

“He doesn’t need to be concerned with energy or public works.

“The president’s viewpoint is that if he appoints a minister with a specific focus, failure is not an option.

“And then, we can hold them accountable.”
