President Bola Tinubu has instructed Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to oversee the construction of five roads within each of Abuja’s six area councils.

Wike made this announcement during a courtesy visit by former FCT legislators, Philip Aduda and Zakari Angulu, in Abuja on Wednesday.

These road projects are scheduled to be completed by May 29, 2024.

According to Wike, the purpose of these road constructions is to extend and deepen development from the city center into the rural communities spread across the area councils.

In his words, “President Bola Tinubu has directed the construction of a minimum of five-kilometer roads in each of the six Area Councils before May 29.”

This aligns with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at ensuring that development efforts of the current administration reach rural communities.

Wike also mentioned the establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission as part of this renewed hope agenda and emphasized the move to withdraw the FCT from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to stimulate development in the capital city, all in an effort to restore hope among FCT residents.

During the visit, Aduda congratulated Wike on his appointment as FCT minister and commended him for his commendable work.

He also extended gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing a native, Zephania Bitrus Jisalo, as the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, pledging full support for the FCT’s development in the interest of all.
